Version 5 delivers key updates to the Polimapper platform, focusing on a refreshed map visual design and the introduction of precise location-pinning functionality. These enhancements are designed to improve both the aesthetic and functional aspects of mapping projects.

New features

New map module (OpenStreetMap Integration)

A new map style has been added to the Polimapper system. Users can now select between the traditional map layout and this new option, which utilises OpenStreetMap.

  • Improved User Experience: This module features a more stylised look and enhanced zooming functionality.
  • Touchscreen Optimisation: These characteristics make the maps more user-friendly across a variety of devices, including large touchscreen displays, iPads, and mobile phones.

Drop pin functionality

The ability to add drop pins to both national and local maps has been implemented. This feature allows users to accurately mark specific points of interest.

  • Location Highlighting: Users can upload a range of pins, based on grid references, to highlight key national and local places (e.g., hospitals, stores, or campaign centres).
  • Customisation and Data: Users can select from a range of pin shapes and colours. Additionally, there is the capability to add images and supplementary detail to the pins for enhanced context.

Stakeholder database

Information regarding all 18k councillors in the UK has been added to the database. In addition, layout changes have been made in order to accommodate the new stakeholders.

Devolved candidates

Candidates for the Holyrood and Senedd 2026 elections have been added to the Polimapper platform.
