In May 2023 over 7.5 million people in England were awaiting treatment on the NHS.
Figures released by NHS England showed that among the 7.5 million, in 385,022 cases the patient was waiting more than 52 weeks, in 96,801 cases they were waiting more than 65 weeks, in 11,446 cases they were waiting more than 78 weeks, and in 482 cases they were waiting more than 104 weeks.
Over 820,000 people were awaiting treatment from Trauma and Orthopaedic Services, whilst almost 650,000 people were awaiting Ophthalmology care.
